My Life as a Fairy Tale





My Life as a Fairy Tale, a musical to commemorate the 200th birthday of Hans Christian Andersen, was performed at the 2005 Lincoln Center Festival and the 2005 Aarhus Festival in Aarhus, Denmark. Qian Yi played the role of Jenny Lind, alongside fellow cast members Fiona Shaw (Medea, Harry Potter) as Hans Christian Andersen, Blair Brown (Molly Dodd, Copenhagen), and Mia Maestro (The Motorcycle Diaries, Alias). The music was composed by Stephen Merritt, best known as the leader of the band Magnetic Fields. Costume design by Caitlin Ward.
