The Butterfly Dream




Qian Yi stars opposite Wu Hsing Kuo (Legend of the Green Snake, The First Emperor) in Contemporary Legend Theater’s new production, The Butterfly Dream.

Based on the Peking opera, Zhuang Zi Tests His Wife, this 3 hour plus contemporary Kun opera (see Kunqu) features a completely new score by composer Jia Daqun and also highlights the creative efforts of Lin Hsiu-wei, CLT's producer.

The Taipei Times called it “one of the most highly anticipated theatrical events of the year.”

The production was commissioned for the Taiwan's National Theater as part of their 20th anniversary celebration and premiered in December 2007. The production has subsequently performed in venues across Taiwan.
