Moss Sutra is an opera about learning to see.

Moss, the gardens, the conflagration, the oracle bones, the deities, the folding fan, the sea, the moon, and the child are not separate stories so much as different windows onto the same journey.

As the opera unfolds, the perspective gradually widens—from the visible world, to history, memory, nature, and the relationships that connect them. It invites the audience to look beyond appearances and consider how people, time, and the natural world shape one another.

The gift of the "true eyes" offered in the Prelude echoes throughout the work, returning in different forms until the Finale. In that sense, the opera traces a gradual opening of perception rather than the resolution of a conventional plot.
